Implementing the Citrix Desktop 3 and 4 

In this course, students will learn to install, configure and manage Citrix XenDesktop 3. By completing the exercises available in a hosted online lab environment, students will obtain hands-on experience working with Citrix XenDesktop. Students will install and configure key desktop delivery components, including the Desktop Delivery Controller, Virtual Desktop Agent, Desktop Receiver and XenDesktop Setup Wizard. Students will also configure XenDesktop policy management settings and connect to a XenDesktop environment from a variety of endpoint devices.

The Citrix XenDesktop 4 Updates offers students an opportunity to identify the new features, enhancements and system requirements for XenDesktop 4. Students will learn how XenApp functions with XenDesktop 4 and complete an exercise to upgrade a version of XenDesktop 3 to XenDesktop 4.

Preparatory Recommendations

It is recommended that students have the following knowledge/experience prior to taking this course:

  1. A basic knowledge of Citrix XenApp
  2. A basic knowledge of Citrix Provisioning Server
  3. A basic knowledge of Citrix XenServer
  4. An understanding of computing architecture, including network and storage drivers and operating systems
  5. Basic experience installing and administering Windows Server 2003

Key Skills

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to complete the following 

  1. Explain the features, benefits and components of Citrix XenDesktop 3 and Install the Desktop Delivery Controller
  2. Prepare a virtual desktop for delivery to an endpoint device
  3. Install and configure the XenDesktop Setup Wizard
  4. Create and manage desktop groups using the Access Management Console
  5. Configure XenDesktop policy management settings
  6. Install and configure Desktop Receiver software on an endpoint device
  7. Connect to a XenDesktop environment from a variety of endpoint devices
  8. Upgrade a XenDesktop 3 environment to a XenDesktop 4 environment

Instructional Method

This course is an instructor-led training course with classroom lecture, discussion, demonstrations and the practical application of concepts through hands-on exercises.

This course prepares learners for Exam A17 Implementing Citrix XenDesktop 3 and 4, the requirement for the CCA for Citrix XenDesktop 4.
